What is the plot of Mismatched season 3?
Dimple has been in a slump for three years after her idol, Nandini Nahata (Dipannita Sharma), rejected her. Meanwhile, her boyfriend Rishi is living her dream at NNIT, alongside Anmol (Taaruk Raina), Krish (Abhinav Sharma), and Celina (Muskkaan Jaferi). He has become Nandini’s star student, working on their groundbreaking app, Betterverse, a virtual world where users can embody any character. To bridge the distance in their relationship, Dimple enters Betterverse after Rishi grants her access, keeping it a secret. At the same time, Professor Siddharth (Rannvijay Singha) convinces Dimple to join his college in Hyderabad. However, when she arrives, she is frustrated to see Rishi succeeding while she feels stagnant.
Meanwhile, a new character, Rithika (Rith), is introduced, a trans man who can only fully express his true identity in Betterverse. Using unethical means, Rith joins Siddharth’s college to gain access to the virtual world. He hacks into Rishi and Dimple’s computers and successfully infiltrates the Betterverse after a vulnerability is exposed through Dimple’s access.
Anmol and Vinny (Ahsaas Channa) face challenges in their relationship, as Anmol struggles to change while Vinny grapples with his past. Krish and Celina become physically involved, but Krish tries to keep emotions out, though he ultimately fails, as Celina captures his heart. However, Celina becomes attracted to Rith, who eventually reveals his true identity to her. Professor Siddharth and Zeenat (Vidya Malvade) also experience tension in their steady relationship when Zeenat expresses her desire to adopt a child. While Siddharth is hesitant at first, he eventually proposes marriage and agrees to adoption.
Love vs metaverse
As Betterverse becomes the centerpiece of Rishi’s life, Dimple struggles with his divided attention, especially when he becomes consumed by the app’s preparation for the Technovate event. Dimple, upset by his neglect, becomes even more disheartened when she learns the registration fee for the event is INR 2.5 lakhs, which her father agrees to pay.
The true test of Dimple and Rishi’s relationship
The turning point comes when Dimple’s father passes away, and she falls into depression for three months. However, she is eventually inspired to create an app that allows people to communicate with deceased loved ones. Although Rishi fears that Dimple is not grieving in a healthy way, they get engaged. However, before their engagement, Rith confesses that he hacked Betterverse, leading to tension between Dimple and Rishi. Dimple chooses not to tell him until after the engagement.
The night before the Betterverse launch at Technovate, it is revealed that the app has been hacked. Dimple admits to Rishi that their engagement was rushed, and the two work together to resolve the situation, saving Betterverse. However, Rishi is ousted from the campus after it’s revealed that his mistake led to the hack, and Nandini loses trust in him.
Season 3 is filled with breakups. Siddharth and Zeenat part ways after their differing views on parenthood, and Anmol and Vinny also break up after a conflict. Celina and Rith separate due to the hacking scandal. Meanwhile, Rishi and Dimple have an emotional conversation where Rishi admits his struggles with the tech world and his passion for animation. He recognizes Dimple’s potential and removes his engagement ring, asking her to do the same. They share a heartfelt moment, accepting their fate while expressing their love for each other. Rishi leaves, bidding her farewell with “Goodbye, wife.” Dimple asks him to hold on to the rings, leaving the door open for potential reconciliation. The final episode, titled “Beginning, Middle and…”, suggests that the story is not over, with fans hopeful for a fourth season.
